Celtic might have just suffered a January transfer blow with the news Albian Ajeti’s injury is a bit more serious than Kyogo’s.

The Swiss striker went off in the first half against Real Betis on Thursday evening and has been ruled out for the foreseeable future.

We attended the post-match press conference with Ange on Sunday after the victory to Motherwell and the manager told CeltsAreHere the player would be out for a decent period of time. What that means, we’re not sure.

If Ajeti isn’t fit during January, there’s absolutely no chance of the Hoops selling the striker during the window.

Given Celtic’s plans to rebuild and Ange’s admission there will be players on their way out, getting Albian off the books at Celtic Park to divert funds to new players almost seemed like a given.

Now, as we approach the end of December, the player could be here by default until the summer.

The Ajeti transfer hasn’t worked out at all. The player has never looked comfortable in a Celtic jersey and it will likely go down as an expensive error by the club once it’s all said and done.

Celtic will have to get rid of some dead wood from elsewhere in the team if Ajeti isn’t fit. Vasilis Barkas is another player the Hoops will look to move on.
