Celtic’s first-team squad is set to return for pre-season training at the beginning of July, with their first competitive match not scheduled until the start of the Premiership on August 5/6.
This gives the club some leeway in their search for a new manager.
The team is planning to travel to Japan and South Korea for pre-season matches in mid-July, facing Wolves, Yokohama F. Marinos and Gamba Osaka.
However, the club’s priority is to have a new manager in place before their initial training camp in Portugal earlier in the month. [The Sun]
It’ll be a packed pre-season for the Bhoys, but it will give the new manager plenty of time to get to know their squad and get them up to scratch for what will be another tough SPFL season, competing in the Champions League group stages on top of the three domestic trophies.
A lot of Celtic’s players are preparing to represent their national squads in the coming weeks, giving them very little rest this summer.
