Stephen McGowan has never been short of a bit of insider Celtic knowledge. The Mail Sport journalist regularly gives some of the biggest scoops coming out of Celtic Park.

Most recently, the Journo was first tipped off about Eddie Howe’s deal falling apart at the last minute before the avalanche of media outlets started reporting it.

McGowan has delivered a Celtic transfer update in his latest MailSport article posted on late Sunday evening.

In the report, the Journo claims:

Celtic look to be moving on from the George Baldock deal because of the price tag.

The Hoops have turned their attention to Antwerp right back Aurelio Buta.

Ange Postecoglou also wants to sign a holding midfielder – effectively a Scott Brown replacement.

Celtic are running out of time before the start of the SPFL season. The league kicks off again on Saturday and the Hoops are still short in major areas. One thing McGowan doesn’t mention is the search for a goalkeeper.

The club have no recognised first team goalkeeper with both Bain and Barkas playing like backups at best. If Ange doesn’t dip into the market for an alternative – it could be very costly.
