BOBBY MADDEN is under the spotlight after sending off Aberdeen Funso Ojo for doing absolutely nothing during the Dons game against Dundee Utd.

The decision has ramifications for Aberdeen next weekend when they take on Celtic at Parkhead. Currently, Ojo will miss the game through suspension but Aberdeen are not having it, and to be honest, nor they should.

Ojo was given a second yellow by the incompetent Madden when his momentum took him towards the Dundee Utd fans, when right next to the stands, the player was forcefully pushed by a Dundee Utd fan. All Ojo did was walk up to the fan and ask what that was all about, it earned him a second yellow from Madden.

Aberdeen have since released this Statement: “The Club are appalled at the events that unfolded yesterday afternoon and are fully supporting Funso who remains shaken by the entire incident. Such conduct from any supporter is wholly unacceptable and should not be tolerated in what, for a football player, is their place of work.

“Given the circumstances around the incident, the Club remains shocked at the decision to issue Funso with a second caution which led to his dismissal from the field of play. As it was Funso who was assaulted we sincerely hope that common sense will prevail and that the authorities will work with us to ensure that this injustice is addressed.”

Madden is supposed to be one of our top officials but time and time again he is found wanting. Peculiar decisions in many of his games are allowed to keep going because there’s no accountability for our officials. No transparency and no ramifications for idiotic decisions that make our game a laughing stock at times.

Ojo should be available for the Celtic tie on Sunday – if he somehow isn’t – Aberdeen will feel very harshly done by.
