CELTIC fans might have to wait a bit longer for their season ticket renewal forms this year.

The club usually embarks on their renewal campaign during the month of April and have begun that process as early as the first week in the month.

Not this year, and for good reason.

It’s not because they haven’t appointed a new management team as of yet, although that will be playing into it somewhat.

There are a few reasons why the season ticket renewal process is not simple for the club at the moment:

  • Celtic have to come to the fans with some sort of offering after they shelled out hundreds and thousands of pounds for a £90 rated TV subscription for the year. A cheaper season ticket this year is a MUST but by how much and who gets what discount?

  • The club have no idea what next season looks like with regard to fans getting back into stadiums and can’t tell supporters how it would work should a partial reopening take place.

  • The deal between the SPFL and Sky Sports was a one-season deal where clubs were allowed to show their home games to season ticket holders – no such deal is in place at the moment for next season.

The Celtic Trust have been pushing for the club to give season ticket holders this season a stake in the club by handing out shares as a goodwill gesture for their loyalty but the club have no LEGAL obligation to compensate fans this year like they did last term.

This is a pivotal four weeks for the club, they are fighting on several different fronts and will need to find answers quickly. If they mess around the support like they did earlier this season, the fans will vote with their wallets.

  1. Was happy enough to renew last year even though there was always possibility of no game to go to but they way our views were totally ignored in Autumn when Lennon should have been sacked and the shambles we’re in now, with Howe (or anyone) still not in place, doesnt rmake me keen to shell out again

  2.
