CELTIC will not be flying to Dubai this year, the same as last season, and will jet to Portugal after the Sydney Cup.

The tournament Downunder will finish on the 20th of November after the Hoops face Everton. It will give the Hoops a few weeks before they return to domestic action against Aberdeen on the 17th of December.

Because of the World Cup being played part way through a season, there is no winter break this year, with games played throughout December and January.

Ange Postecoglou has confirmed his team will embark on a training camp in Portugal off the back of the Aussie tournament. Players participating in the World Cup will likely join when their adventure comes to an end in the competition.

The Celtic manager said to SEN;

“I’m going to come down to Melbourne and just catch up with people and watch the games on the telly.

“And then we head back and go straight into camp in Portugal and get ready for the second half of the year.

“With the World Cup being smack bang in the middle, it means the programme either side of it is super congested.

“Not just for us, for all football clubs. So, we’re going to get ready to go again.”

Postecoglou will be relishing the chance to work with his players before they resume their title defence at Pittodrie. He’ll get some hard work into the players, ensuring they’re in the best shape possible for the league’s return.
