John McGinn looks set to miss out on Celtic’s Champions League qualifying campaign if he eventually signs for the club this summer.

The midfielder has been subject of two bids from Celtic, both of which have been knocked back by Hibernian and now Neil Lennon is about to play the midfielder in the second leg of their Europa a league qualifier against NSI.

If McGinn does play a part in the game he will be ineligible to play any part of Celtic’s qualifiers because of his participation in Europa game.

However, if Celtic manage to make the group stages, the player would then be eligible to be part of Celtic’s Champions League proper squad.

With Hibs winning 6-1 in the first leg, Neil Lennon has the luxury of not having to pick the midfielder but the Irishman may be looking to make a point.

With a deal not imminent, Celtic will go into the next couple of qualifiers with largely the same side as last term.

This shouldn’t worry fans as the bhoys have came back from their break looking very good.
