CeltsAreHere.com Announces Shirt Sponsorship of Catholic United FC

CeltsAreHere.com, the leading Celtic Fan Media Page, is proud to announce its official shirt sponsorship of Catholic United FC, a historic Essex-based football club with deep ties to the Celtic community.

Founded in 1959, Catholic United FC was established to represent the local Catholic community in London. The club’s connection to Celtic dates back to 1968 when it adopted the iconic green and white hoops for their Charity Cup Final, courtesy of a generous donation from Celtic Chairman Bob Kelly.

In 1968, Catholic United’s first team reached the Walton Cup Final, a prestigious regional event. Needing a change of colours for the match, the team reached out to Celtic Chairman Bob Kelly, who generously sent a kit for the team to wear.

Following a 2-0 victory over rivals Haden, the club decided to permanently adopt the green and white hoops as their official colours, and they still wear them to this day.

The ties between the two clubs have been further strengthened over the years, most notably when Cameron Carter-Vickers, a local youth player who began his football journey at Catholic United, signed for Celtic on loan in the summer of 2021, before signing permanently the following summer.

This move marked a significant moment in the club’s history, rekindling the long-standing connection between Catholic United and Celtic FC.

CeltsAreHere.com is thrilled to continue this tradition of unity and mutual support by becoming the official shirt sponsor of Catholic United FC.

We will be cheering on both Catholic United and Celtic this season.
