Miguel Chaiwa remains keen on joining Celtic, with the Hibernian midfielder’s camp making clear that a move to Parkhead is one he is still strongly pushing for.
His agent told CeltsAreHere: “Celtic is a big club and you don’t turn that down.
“The player wants to go there.”
That follows previous discussions earlier in the summer when Chaiwa’s camp made Celtic aware that the Zambia international liked the project at Parkhead.
There had been contact earlier in the summer, with Chaiwa’s representative confirming the last Celtic approach came in May, before the end of the campaign.
However, when asked this week whether there had been any further talks since then, the answer was: “No.”
It means Celtic have not moved the situation forward recently, despite the player remaining open to the move.
There could also be some movement around the fee required to take Chaiwa away from Easter Road.
Earlier this summer, CeltsAreHere understands Hibs were looking for around £4-5 million.
No new asking price has been given, and any deal would still require Celtic and Hibs to reach an agreement.
Chaiwa has already impressed against the Hoops, including a strong performance at Celtic Park earlier this year.
He has also experienced the atmosphere at Parkhead first-hand, something which has clearly left an impression as he considers his future.
For now, Celtic are not in active talks over a deal. But there is little doubt over the player’s position.
If Celtic decide to revive their interest in Chaiwa, they would be dealing with a player who wants the move and a camp willing to help make it happen.
