There are no new injuries ahead of Celtic’s tie against Shakhtar on Wednesday night, however, there is one absence due to illness that won’t impact the starting XI, or even the squad.

Ange has confirmed on Tuesday evening that Carl Starfelt remains on the sidelines since going off during the Glasgow Derby, while James McCarthy had missed the flight to Poland due to a last minute illness.

There was no way James was going to start the game or see any action, so it’s as you were for Celtic after Matchday one.

The bhoys put in a good performance against Real Madrid, but fell to the current European holders in the end. The Shakhtar game presents an opportunity for Celtic to get points on the board, however, it’s not going to be easy.

Shakhtar blew away Leipzig on Matchday one and know a victory against Celtic will further solidify their spot as the number two in the group.

Celtic don’t tend to travel well. They need to put in a top performance against Shakhtar if they’re to really kickstart their European campaign. Second is the goal but third spot is also something the bhoys should have their eye on.

The game kicks off at 5:45pm on Wednesday evening.
