Dundee Boss James McPake has delivered an update on his club’s pursuit of Celtic midfielder, Ewan Henderson.

The Championship club have approached Celtic about taking the youngster on loan this month. While the transfer window is closed, the Championship clubs can still utilise the loan system.

McPake confirmed the interest and revealed he’s waiting on Celtic coming back to them.

“There hasn’t been any developments on that. We knew about him at Ross County and has played in the Celtic first team this year. It came to us at the end of the window but we know it can happen any time this month. We are waiting on Celtic.” McPake told the Evening Standard.

Ewan has not been given much game time by Neil Lennon since the Irishman came back to the club. It’s clear the manager doesn’t rate the midfielder for whatever reason and he would be best utilised going out on loan to get more experience.

We’re unsure of the hold up when it comes to Ewan’s status, it’s surely a no brainer for Celtic and the player.

Dundee already have Jonathan Afolabi on loan from the club but he looks to be on the periphery of the squad now Jason Cummings has signed for Dundee.

We await to see if Celtic will sanction the move.
