Celtic interim boss John Kennedy has insisted that the good times will be back at Parkhead as we prepare to enter a new era in the club’s history with this summers up-and-coming rebuild.

As quoted by the Scotsman,  Kennedy expressed that after yesterdays game which rounded off the season it now feels like an ‘end of an era’ for this group of players, as we go into a massive summer in terms of changes both on and off the park at Celtic.

“That is the thing, people look at things in isolation and judge purely on things like points totals. Ultimately football can change very quickly. We could have picked up more points this season if things had fallen for us.

“We weren’t quite in our groove but I have been here long enough to know how football operates.

“You go into next season, start positively and it can take you anywhere. That is the ultimate goal for the club, stabilise, get everybody in place we need to get in place. Get a good squad and go out and become champions again.

“For me, it almost feels like the end of an era.

“I have been here through some really good times, successful times when we have been on the crest of a wave. This year unfortunately it has not worked out as we would have wished. The club captain is leaving, there will be changes in management and at board level.

“There will be a number of players leaving, loan players or whatever it might be. You look back and you reflect on what we have achieved over the years. You draw that line then it is time to rebuild and then you move on.”

Many fans were happy to see the back of what was an extremely disappointing season last campaign which saw us lose the league 25 points.

Interesting Kennedy said changes at board level, you would like to think that means more than Peter Lawwell.

After so much success over the past decade or so, we now find ourselves in a situation where we need to build back up with a large chunk of this squad moving on as well as many changes behind the scenes at the club.

It is very much an exciting but also daunting stage, as we continue the search for a manager going into next season.

  1. The whole board should have resigned or been sacked and the blame lies firmly with Desmond,he had a choice to back Rodgers or lawell and his boardroom buddies but chose the latter.apart from lawell the rest are still there with no sign of remorse or apology for their incompetence.

  2. Lawell has a lot to answer for. That damn 5 wat agreement was a disgrace. I trust he will have no part in transfers, he’s not even safe making the bloody tea. Bye-bye.
