CHRIS SUTTON believes that Celtic have won the league after they avoided defeat in the Glasgow Derby on Sunday.

Celtic needed to hold The Rangers to a draw or take three points; they just couldn’t lose. If the gap had been reduced to three points, Celtic would come under some pressure. However, I still believe that they would have enough about them to win the league.

Sutton believes the trophy is on its way back to Paradise after leaving for a year. The former Celtic striker believes the Hoops are too far in front for The Rangers to make a recovery.

Writing in the Daily Record, Sutton stated;

Celtic have been exceptional for long spells over this campaign and they deserve to be top of the league with one hand on the trophy.

“The exciting thing for Celtic fans is this is just the start of Ange Postecoglou’s journey and I think there are still improvements to come in the summer.

“But the important thing for now is reaching their first big goal, which is now tantalisingly in sight.

“And while it might have ended up a draw yesterday, we all know the real winner.

“This was a result Celtic would have gladly taken before a ball was kicked and they now have the title within their grasp.

“Listen, it’s still not done. We’ve seen some incredible swings in leagues in the past and you never bank on anything until you are officially done and dusted.

“But let’s be realistic. Celtic have gone 29 successive games without defeat in the league under Postecoglou.

“Let’s just say, it’s highly unlikely they are going to lose two of the next three. With the goal difference, one will do it.”

Celtic are champions-elect. Three points at the weekend would all but seal the league, with The Rangers needing to claw back a nineteen goal deficit.

Celtic will then confirm their champions status at Tannadice when a draw would be enough to win the league.

Celtic will then lift the Cup after playing Motherwell on the last day of the season.

  1. Yes we are very near to winning league 10x out of the last 11 we took it right back off them only thing i was pissed off with was when Joe passing the ball around the goal mouth when they where in a high press we could not get the ball over the half way line and they just pressed us for long periods i just wish Joe would pick the ball up hold it 20 or 30 secs and tell our players to move up the pitch and take all of there players out of the press Joe should be in control and if he has to do this 10x or 100x then he should do it we where 1-0 up and we should have seen this over the line with Joe holding the ball and slowing the game down and moving all there players back up the pitch, other than that am happy we held on to 1-1 and the league title is coming home…
