CHRIS SUTTON has taken to social media to highlight once again an issue that’s very close to his heart and one that can’t be ignored because of this week’s tragic events.
Celtic have lost to giants of their history in Billy McNeill and Stevie Chalmers – both to dementia.
Billy passed away last Monday night and Stevie was not far behind him on Sunday. It’s a painfully sad week for everyone associated with the club and Chris Sutton wanted to hammer home his belief that ex-pros have been let down by the people who run the game.
So sad to lose two Celtic legends to dementia. Ex players from a golden era are dying and yet there are still people in a position of power who chose to do nothing about this issue and yet they are backed and protected by many in football… other industries would not accept this

The link between footballers and dementia is growing with an older generation of players succumbing to the terrible disease. However, Sutton has blasted many people still in the game who have refused to look into the link between heading the ball and illness in later life.
Chris Sutton’s dad Mike Sutton who was a pro back in the day is currently going through the same thing as Billy and Stevie with Chris adamant there is a case to be answered for and research needed to understand more about what’s going on.
The old fashioned football could have most likely had a profound effect on many ex-pros lives and it’s time to get to the bottom of it.
