CHRIS SUTTON has reacted to a night of high drama at Celtic Park with a late goal from ‘General Leigh’ giving the bhoys all three points in their first Europa League group match.

The Englishman was in the BT commentary booth as he watched Celtic go through the motions and look out of ideas as they passed amongst themselves but did very little in the way of attacking positively.

Celtic were trying to break down a Rosenborg side that had no interest in going for a win but simply sit back and defend in the hope of getting a point.

Their plan was four minutes away from working when a long ball and one of the first long balls of the night coming from Scott Brown met the head of Dedryk Boyata who had cleverly stayed up the field to knock it down for Leigh Griffiths and send Celtic Park into raptures.

Sutton believed it was a must win and Celtic did just that.

  1. Griff has proved again he is the man,he signed a new contract,so surely BR must utilise him from the start at every game, mickey J as well, the French pair now seem to have lost interest,I wonder why?????

  2. Ive said it repeatedly. Sideways football is boring. There was no penetration in attack. The wingers rarely got behind the Rosenberg defence. It’s bad when your left back is your main attacker.
Football is a team game. Don’t blame one individual. Celtic are lacking creativity in the front third of the park. I’d have Ryan Christie and Michael Johnston in there. The lads are keen, eager and transformed the team in the last round.
Great goal to win match but let’s remember it was a brilliant header down to Griffiths from Boyata. A much improved player since the World Cup
