Former Celtic striker Chris Sutton has continued his war of words with Michael Beale, after the Ibrox gaffer surprisingly decided to call him out.

In a column dedicated to the manager‘s comments, Sutton accused Beale of beinga bit touchy and suggested that if he is so sensitive to criticism, then Rangers supporters should be a little bitworried” about Beale’s thin skin.

Sutton continued by referencing Beale‘s playing career, saying that he had a Google and couldn‘t find much about it. While Sutton was winning Leagues north and south of the border, winning the Golden Boot in England, Beale had to retire at the age of 21, with no clubs willing to have him. The Rangers manager is in no place to talk about Sutton’s playing career.

Chris then went on to explain that it is his job to spark debate, and if Beale is so easily affected by criticism, then he won‘t survive long in the Glasgow job. The former Premier League winner concluded by suggesting that Beale‘s thin skin is a cause for concern for Rangers supporters.

“I was going to hit back with a pop at his playing career,” Sutton wrote in the Daily Record. “But I had a Google and it turned out I couldn’t find anything about it… Listen, a certain manager – sorry, Beale – is entitled to his opinion. But so am I. It’s my job. The great thing about football is people love talking about it and pundits are there to spark debate or take part in it.

“And if simply talking about a major moment in last week’s game gets under his skin then goodness knows how he’s going to cope long term in the Rangers job. You aren’t going to survive long in Glasgow if you have skin thinner than cheap toilet roll.”

  1. Chris says it all. What an ambassador ! I just love the way that Sutton, Postecoglou and Celtic people in general, outwit the half-witted 10yrs old Scottish club. I have had over 10 years, which I keep saying, but, “they just keep giving !”. Much and all as I can’t stand them, bawjaws in particular, where would my entertainment come from without them ?
