CHRIS SUTTON believes Ange Postecoglou is ready to dip into the Japanese market again in January and he has the sneaky suspicions deals are already being discussed.

The BT Sports pundit talked up the importance of the run between now and the end of the calendar year.

It’s a period where Celtic could find themselves in a final, they have two pivotal Europa League games and they can’t afford to lose any ground in the title race.

The pieces are coming together but Chris is worried it could fall apart before the window opens if Celtic get injuries to key players.

The former Hoops striker admits Celtic are light in the middle of the park and an injury to David Turnbull or Callum McGregor could see the bhoys have to rely on Bitton and McCarthy before the window opens.

As for the window itself, Chris is of the belief Ange is targeting the J-League.

‘We all know Postecoglou will go back into the transfer pot and I think he’ll return to the Japanese market given the success of Kyogo.’ Sutton wrote in his RecordSport column.

‘Midfield is clearly the area where they are short and Celtic cannot stand still. They have to strengthen in there as, while it’s been a good start, they can’t rest on laurels.

‘To kick on, a couple of signings to improve the first 11 are a must.

‘But, as I’ve said, that is almost six weeks and 12 games away.

‘Even if Postecoglou has targets in mind and they have already agreed to sign, Celtic need to get there first.

‘And, should they get any bad luck as regards the likes of McGregor, Turnbull or Rogic, it will on Bitton, McCarthy and Rogic to make sure they arrive to that key point unscathed.’

It’s imperative the bhoys do keep in touch until the window opens. How quick will they be to add reinforcements?
