CHRIS SUTTON has told Celtic fans he doesn’t buy Brendan Rodgers going out his way to stick the boot into Celtic after Leicester loaned Andy King to the Ibrox club.

The former Celtic manager is now in charge at the King Power, but it would appear the Irishman has had very little to do with the deal other than telling King he was surplus to requirements at Leicester.

Many fans have been speculating about the move and it has reignited some of the bad feelings Rodgers generated when he left through the back door at the end of February.

However, Chris Sutton isn’t having any of it but he did say, Brendan Rodgers wouldn’t care if it had a positive effect on the Ibrox club’s season.

“Andy King might not have had a sniff at Leicester for a couple of years but he’s got experience and will give further options.” Sutton wrote in his RecordSport Column.

“I don’t buy the suggestion it’s Brendan Rodgers putting the boot into his old club. I doubt he even cares. It’s a chance for a player he sees as surplus to requirements to go out and get games and how it affects the Scottish title race won’t matter a jot to him.”
