CHRIS SUTTON revealed he has a decent relationship with Eddie Howe as the English manager closes in on a sensational move to Celtic.

Sutton and Eddie crossed paths while both were studying a coaching course in Ireland – the former Celtic striker recalls striking up a relationship with Eddie at the time and how the former Bournemouth manager came across.

“I’ve mentioned before I was on the same coaching course as him in Ireland a few years ago. He was already in charge at Bournemouth at the time and we struck up a decent relationship.” Sutton told RecordSport.

“It’s not like we were going nightclubbing together but he struck me as someone who has a nice manner and a good presence about him.

“I’ve heard punters claim he struggles to handle a big dressing room. I see no reason to go along with that. He is an introvert in terms of his personality but he is extremely assured. And with regards to that coaching course we were on he commanded respect through his ideas and the way he conducted himself.”

Eddie comes across as a placid guy in post-match interviews and when he’s on pundit duty. However, Sutton has got it absolutely right, the manager has a presence and ability to get players playing for him.

You don’t need to be the loudest or angriest in the room to get your point across but Eddie does seem capable of it if need be.

He’s a one to one sort of manager and if he’s not happy with you, he will likely pull you aside rather than berate you in front of the team.

We’re still awaiting official confirmation, but at this point, it’s the worst kept secret in Scottish football. Celtic fans are desperate for things to get going and are understandably frustrated it’s taking so long but once Eddie does come in, we should be in a position to make things happen.
