Chris Sutton was in good form in BT Sport Xtra on Friday evening when talking about the departure of Steven Gerrard.

The former Ibrox manager made a Rodgers-esque b-line for the EPL after winning just one trophy in nine available to him domestically.

Gerrard is now in charge of Aston Villa and will be tasked with pulling them up the Premier League.

All his staff have headed south with the former Liverpool man but Chris Sutton is not so sure that’s the case.

The former Celtic hero claimed Steven will be disappointed he can’t take his most valuable players like John Beaton and Bobby Madden to England.

During Gerrard’s time in Glasgow he got his fair share of decisions that shouldn’t have gone his way. Chris alluding to the fact the manager had a helping hand at times.

Celtic have the chance to capitalise on their rivals instability, they have to start by getting to the League Cup final when they head to Hampden later this month.

  1. Just wish someone who is employed by Celtic had the guts to suggest this embarrassment to the SFA. All well and good to laugh at it but it is very costly. !3 games in, how many penalty’s have they had and at what times have they been awarded them. Usually when a helping hand is needed.
