Chris Sutton has branded James Forrest’s start against Livingston a ‘big call’ as the Englishman gets set for Sky Sports duties on the game this afternoon.
“Big call James Forrest starting” Sutton wrote on X.
Many have been taken by surprise by Forrest’s inclusion in the starting XI. He hasn’t started a game this season and many suspected Luis Palma would get the nod.
It’s clear Rodgers has gone for experience over youth and perhaps a nod to the fact he’s looking for more experienced players in January after the bhoys spent the summer bringing in projects.
There fact there is only one new signing starting at the Tony Macaroni [Lagerbielke] is telling and that’s only because there is a catalogue of injuries in defence.
James could quickly change the narrative and show he merits his place in the starting XI with a good performance against Livingston.
However, given the defensive prowess of the home side, it’s not going to be an easy afternoon for the team in general. Rodgers has already lost one game on a plastic surface this season away to Kilmarnock in the League Cup, they have to show they can be dynamic and problem solve.
Many are surprised? By many I reckon you mean yourself. I’m not surprised at tall , James is due a start
