A Celtic supporter went onto BBC Radio 5 live tonight and cut a passionate plea to Chris Sutton to ask his pal Neil Lennon to give up the ghost.

Sutton who takes calls on the football phone-in on the weekends listened as Tommy pleaded his case after watching the team drop more points and just escape with a point at Easter Road.

Celtic were woeful in the second half and uninspired in the first. Two goals from Hibs put us on the brink of a defeat, to the players credit, they brought it back and in a vacuum it could be seen as a point earned.

In reality, it’s more than the tipping point when it comes to bad results which are slowly seeing us prematurely lose the league title.

Tommy asked the question of Sutton as cited by RecordSport.

“Can you agree with that Chris, can you ask Neil to walk?

“We love him, he has to do it for Celtic and get someone else in.

“Football clubs change and temperaments change. These players are not playing for Celtic.

“He’s won us the Treble, I love him to bits, but look at managers who have had to leave England after one season (after winning Premier League), Conte, Mourinho Ranieri.

Sutton has a blind spot for his old pal, which is understandable, and he wasnt for asking:

“With respect to Tommy, I’m not in a position to ask Neil to walk, am I?

“But good passionate call Tommy.”

Perhaps calling it a good and passionate call was an admission Chris maybe thinking it’s time for Neil to go.

  1. When it comes to it, if the present piayers won’t (or can’t) be bothered to play for NL. Will they at least play for the badge, fans, a medal or two. Or just for their money. Most fans who, kick every ball. Head most headers. Would sell their wife (husband) their brother (sister) to even train on the same surface under Neil Lennon and co. So if something has turned turtle on the team we all adore. Then they can all play for each other, for a title or two. ‘it’s better to have played and lost, than to have never played at all’. As the Sevco credo goes.
