CHRIS SUTTON has told Celtic fans to enjoy the exploits of Odsonne Edouard while he’s still at the club because the striker is fast making noises throughout Europe.

Celtic’s record signing is rising to the occasion again and again, scoring the big goals at the big moments to make Celtic the team to beat.

The Frenchman was at it again at Ibrox, but it wasn’t only there. Cup final goals, last gasp winners and not the slightest chance he looked like missing. The biggest asset Eddy seems to have is the ability to stay cool under intense pressure. Running through on goal when your team is on the verge of a treble treble and the game is finely poised at 1-1, no problem. No time left on the clock and you need all three points, no problem. Go into the powderkeg toxic atmosphere of Ibrox, listen to a whole stadium jeering you as you slot away the opener, not a single problem.

Moussa Dembele did the business for Celtic and the Frenc Under 21s and got a big money move. Edouard appears to be following in his footsteps and that’s why Sutton describes it as a sad scenario. Celtic fans know what comes after a breakout season.

“It’s a sad scenario for the Celtic fans, but they know the deal. You don’t get these players to sign on the premise of moving onto bigger things in their careers if you don’t let them go when their time comes.” Sutton told RecordSport.

“It was the same with Dembele. Virgil van Dijk, Victor Wanyama and those lads. It has to be the same for Edouard, but before he goes, he can be an absolute wrecking ball for the champions if he keeps progressing.

“If there are a couple of fundamental aspects of his game which might need a bit of work still as he matures, there is no questioning his ability to rise to the big occasions and be ice-cool in the moment.”

This isn’t Chris Sutton trying to sell Edouard, it’s a realisation and confirmation Celtic are able to bring in talents like Dembele, Edouard etc with the premise being come in and develop, win trophies and we’ll send you on your way when the time is right.

There can be no doubt for young stars and their representatives, coming to Celtic can make your career if you have the ability and the attitude.
