Former Celtic striker Chris Sutton has warned Ange Postecoglou that he must sell the trio of Odsonne Edouard, Kristoffer Ajer and Ryan Christie this summer.

Writing in his column for the Daily Record, Sutton states that Ange must have everyone on board next season. For that reason, it might be in his best interests to move the Hoops trio and bringing in replacements as soon as possible.

“Ange Postecoglou has only two ways to deal with Odsonne Edouard. And Celtic’s board need to back his decision 100 per cent.

“The first is to sit him down, tell him to get his mind fixed on the crucial opening weeks of the season and to show that he’s worth the move he might be expecting to get.

“The second is to keep him far away from the pre-season training camp in Wales and out of sight of his Hoops colleagues.

Postecoglou needs players with him. He needs everyone on board.

“His job is hard enough without having anyone who isn’t prepared to get completely behind him. I’m not stupid. I realise it’s unlikely Edouard is going to be part of the long-term plans.

Sutton continued by adding, “Kristoffer Ajer is different. He has made his case publicly that he doesn’t want to be there and Celtic should get rid. Now.

“Never mind trying to squeeze a couple of million extra here or here for him. Just get him sold.

“If Ryan Christie has the same mindset, same outcome.

“The gaffer is going to have to galvanise everyone around and try somehow to eek results out of the squad he’s got at his disposal with a short time span to get all his ideas across.

“For that to happen, Postecoglou needs every single person at the club pushing for him and fighting in the same direction.

“If anyone is found not to be of that mindset, they should not be anywhere near the place.

“That certainly goes for wantaway Ajer.

“It also makes the decision over Edouard pretty simple once big Ange is in full possession of the striker’s current feelings.”

Over the past week, the Frenchman has returned to training, and you would imagine Ange Postecoglou would have had a few discussions with Edouard to see where his head is at.

The situations are slightly different for Kristoffer Ajer and Ryan Christie, who has yet to return to Lennoxtown. The latter of the two, due to his involvement with Scotland at Euro 2020 this summer.

It seems extremely likely we will see all three leaving the club, with early speculation and interest coming from sides across Europe.

Having them for the first few qualifiers would be ideal, but as Sutton states, they must be in the correct state of mind to do so before making their move when the correct offer comes in.
