CELTIC are in a race against time to land key targets and get them in and up to speed before the Champions League qualifiers get into full swing. The club have identified areas they need to strengthen in order to kick on from another treble.

One man who has been linked with the club for over a month is Bournemouth’s Lys Mousset. The striker is third choice at the English club and made 28 appearances last season – most of them from the bench.

Sutton spoke back in May about the potential Celtic target and had this to say?

“Similar type to (Moussa) Dembele. He is a physical-type player, a real handful, hasn’t had enough game time at Bournemouth.” Chris Sutton told BT Sports as cited by HITC.

“There’s no shame in that in terms of Callum Wilson and Josh King. I am not so sure Eddie Howe has the faith in him to start him, so I think that would be a decent piece of business for Celtic.”

The big problem for Celtic is the fact that even a third striker down south commands a massive transfer fee. The player only got two goals to his name last season and Bournemouth will be looking for more than a few million. He can be played as an attacking midfielder also which would appeal to Celtic.

At 23, the player is still showing promise but there needs to be more than that from a Celtic perspective to put any serious money down. His current contract earns the frontman £20kpw according to Sportstrac.

It looks like an unlikely deal.
