It has been well documented that Celtic have fallen out of the Europa League, but for the first time ever, those who finish third place drop into the new European competition, the Conference League.

This leaves Thursday’s tie with nothing to play for and Chris Sutton believes Celtic should utilize their fringe players for this match.

Writing in the Daily Record Sutton gave his thoughts of what he would do if he was the manager;

There are good signs, take the Bayer Leverkusen result at the end of September out of the equation and Celtic’s run over recent months has been superb. They are finding a way to win and the consistency has been good.

They need to keep it up, games are coming thick and fast and next week’s game against Real Betis is an opportunity to give fringe players a run out and not risk the big guns. They need to take the opportunity

Chris acknowledges that there are a lot of games to be played between now and the end of the month, 8 before the Glasgow Derby, and Postecoglou and his team will recognise that players and not expected to play 720 minutes in such a short space of time, especially with important fixtures during and after the run.

The dead rubber tie will provide Ange the chance to rotate his team and give those on the cusp of the first team the chance to shine.
