Celtic strengthened their position at the top of the Scottish Premiership on Saturday at lunchtime as they triumphed in Livingston. Reo Hatate, Matt O’Riley, and Daizen Maeda netted for the Bhoys who fought hard for the three points.
The victory was impressive and after it, Chris Sutton spoke out. The English Premier League winning centre-forward said that the Celtic were ‘fantastic’ on Livi’s ‘monstrosity of a pitch’, and that Matt O’Riley was ‘outstanding’ (X): “Celtic were fantastic on the plastic. Stunning finish from Daizen Maeda. Really important response after Feyenoord. O Riley outstanding. Celtic goalkeepers not totally convincing this season…Big three points on a monstrosity of a pitch.”
Sutton’s comments sum up the thoughts of the majority of Hoops fans. Ensuring victory was massive, particularly after Tuesday evening’s events.

To a man, the champions were excellent and showed their quality. Joe Hart did make a mistake which relit debates about the goalkeeping situation at the club, but his teammates covered him.
It was the first sending off the Englishman had ever received in his career and because of it, Scott Bain will likely continue in goal next week. Sutton thinks all of Celtic’s ‘keepers have not been convincing this campaign, however, and in hindsight, the club should have invested in it over the summer.
I wasn’t impressed by Hatate today. He broke up forward movement, dilly-dallying slowing play. McGregor does three times the work Hatate does. I get the feeling Hatate thinks he’s running the team. He’s no a Messi to me. I believe he’ll be off in January.
yeh lets pretend we’re huns and pick on Hatate after a difficult match for all, where the celts came through with flying colours !!!
Well said Sean !!!
