CHRIS SUTTON used his Record Sport column to whip up a ‘Dilemma’ in the Celtic camp ahead of the League Cup Final.
The former Celtic striker believes Hatem Elhamed succumbing to an injury and missing the final means Neil Lennon has a big decision to make come kick off Sunday December 8.
“The Betfred Cup Final might still be three weeks away but Neil Lennon is already facing his first selection dilemma after Hatem Abd Elhamed was ruled out of the Hampden showpiece.”
In reality, it’s not much of a dilemma when you look at how things have panned out over the last month and where Neil has put his trust in.
Celtic have two European games before Christmas which Elhamed will miss, Jeremie Frimpong isn’t eligible for Europe so Moritz Bauer will come in and do the job for those games.
On the domestic front, it has to be Jeremie Frimpong after the player showed his worth in the semi-final and in the handful of games he’s been in this season.
The thing for Sutton is Jeremie hasn’t been tested defensively – we’d refute that and say he has and has shown a great turn of pace to recover in certain situations where the opposition could’ve advanced. The youngster would likely be up against Ryan Kent with both having great pace it could be a battle to see who is pegged back more on the day.
So there’s not really a dilemma here, if Jeremie is fit, he’s more than likely to start.
