CHRIS SUTTON has warned the Celtic Board that top clubs will be keeping an eye on Ange Postecoglou and might attempt to lure him away from Celtic. He’s worried that of the club don’t hand the manager a new contract, he could be tempted away just as Brendan Rodgers was.

Ange has revealed he is happy at Celtic, and the fact he doesn’t have a long-term contract doesn’t bother him, admitting he’ll be sticking around for as long as he’s allowed.

There have been some murmurings that the club are looking at offering the manager a long term contract, however, it’s not at the forefront of Postecoglou’s mind as he prepares to lead Celtic into their title defence campaign.

Sutton wrote his worries in the Daily Record, claiming that Celtic must act and tie Ange Postecoglou down to a long term deal to avoid a situation where the manager leaves unexpectedly.

Postecoglou sounds content in his surroundings but that doesn’t mean others won’t take notice.

“Clubs are already starting to take notice. All of a sudden his success at Celtic has been added to his achievements with clubs and country and it’s looking a serious body of work.

“In this day and age, managers come and go in the blink of an eye – but that means more opportunities come up.

“Celtic need to be ready and a long term deal at least would mean it would cost a pretty packet if the worse case scenario unfolds.

“It’s not a huge concern right now as there are other things to be worried about.”

I don’t think Celtic have to worry about Postecoglou leaving at the moment. He seems settled in Glasgow and has young children who have adapted to the way of life in the city.

He’s an ambitious guy, but his ambition is at Celtic. He’ll want some European glory, something Celtic fans have been deprived of for many years.
