CHRIS SUTTON was up last night burning the midnight oil writing his thoughts on what went down at Ibrox on Sunday afternoon for his RecordSport column.

The Englishman watched on as his old side beat the Ibrox outfit 2-0 and put them firmly back in their place.

For Chris, it was all about the talk before it and before we go any further, Chris himself was giving the win to Rangers on Friday night while on BT Sport.

However, he didn’t envision Celtic putting on a memorable rearguard display from a makeshift defence. The Englishman spoke about the pressure being on Celtic and Steven Gerrard and co thought they were going to turn up and turn the champions over. In the end the BT pundit believes they bottled it.

“They bumped their gums at the end of last season when they beat Celtic at Ibrox when the Scottish Premiership title was already won.

“It amounted to no more than a dead rubber.

“In that respect Rangers should really concentrate on winning a game against Celtic when it really matters before they start celebrating.

“The expectation levels at Rangers had risen a notch going into this game but once again Steven’s side have failed to deliver on the big stage

“The galling thing for Steven and Rangers will be that in the end it turned out to be a bit of a stroll at Ibrox for Celtic.”
