Chris Sutton believes if Celtic don’t get reinforcement in before the Champions League qualifiers, it would be a dereliction of duty on the club’s part.

The former striker turned pundit thinks it’s all well and good looking for the right players but sometimes you just need players right now.

Writing in his Daily Record column the Englishman is adamant the club needs new faces immediately.

’Celtic did a good bit of business signing Odsonne Edouard.

’But it would be a dereliction of duty if they failure to bring in two or three players ahead of the qualifiers.

’I understand Rodgers wanting to wait for the right player to improve his team.

Yet sometimes it’s not just a case of Mr Right it’s Mr Right Now.’

We have to disagree with Chris Suttin in this one. Celtic are more than capable of going to qualifiers with what they have at present.

It’s imperative Celtic don’t sign players for the sake of it.

You can see just across the city how eager they are to get new bodies in and how gung-ho everything seems.

Celtic have the nucleus of a good team which can be improved in by the right additions, not the ones we’ve seen in the past.

Celtic need more strikers, so we went out and signed Carlton Cole and Colin Kazim-Richards. It just doesn’t work.

  1. Lawwell has spent his lot on Eduard..Were not moving forward we’re going back the way..He’ll sign the Stirling Alb right back 2 minuets before the window shuts..That’s the way this guy operates..

  2. Celtic have enough power play to play for the 1st 2 qualifications matches and be ready with good signings for the next round etc, no panic. HAIL HAIL.
