RYAN CHRISTIE has revealed his Dad Charlie was doing laps of the living room when the midfielder signed his new Celtic deal.

Christie put pen to paper on a new three-year deal with the club; a deal that looked like it may not happen just a month ago. It was the right time and the right place for young Christie who took the chance when it came his way.

Charlie Christie was a Celtic player in the 80s but didn’t manage to make the breakthrough.

The Celtic star revealed his Dad is still a massive Celtic fan and he’s over the moon about the new deal.

“My dad was freaking out when I signed the contract. He’s only just stopped doing laps of the living room!” Christie told SunSport.

“He was very happy. He is a proud dad and he is a big Celtic fan, too.

“It’s quite strange the way our careers have followed the same path.

“But I probably don’t know enough about my dad’s Celtic career.

“I think he was a bit homesick and it was a very good Celtic squad.

“He couldn’t work his way into the team and he got a bit frustrated with it all. But he went back up north and had a great career.

“It makes him proud to see me doing well at Celtic.”

Christie has been called up to the national squad and could even lead the line for Scotland if called upon.

The Scottish setup has been plagued with injuries and call offs to the point there are very few options up front.

The Celtic star could start up top alongside his teammate James Forrest in the Nations League.
