Nothing much has been made of the Jose Cifuentes to Celtic deal since Neil Lennon admitted to having a vague interest in the South American star.

Jose, 20, is looking to make the breakthrough into European football after impressing at the under 20 World Cup with Ecuador.

According to RecordSport, his current club Universidad Catolica rejected a £2m bid for the defensive midfielder from Premier League champions Manchester City and any deal would have to go above that valuation.

Another issue which is being reported is his agent would be due 40% of any deal to take the player to Europe. This means Universidad Catolica are likely to ask for as large a fee as possible so they can land a decent amount from the deal.

Celtic are not done in the transfer market and since losing out to David Turnbull because of a failed medical, the Celtic manager is still in the market for a midfielder.
