BRENDAN RODGERS is always a champion of managers.

Having been through nearly every emotion and scenario during his coaching and managerial career, the Irishman understands the stresses and strains which come along with the job.

When he’s asked his opinion on managers not doing so well or if someone has just lost their job the Celtic boss always has sympathy for whoever is going through the tough time.

When Craig Levein took ill a month or so back, the Celtic manager was quick to find out how he was doing and offer some words of wisdom to his counterpart.

Both have had little digs at each other in the press but it shows you the class of Rodgers to check up on Levein and see how he was doing.

“I sent him a message straight away when I heard and he got back virtually straight away as well,” Rodgers revealed.

“You understand the pressures of the job when you’re a manager. It’s only when you are a manager, when you walk in their shoes and know everything that you’re under, you appreciate how important health is.”
