BRENDAN RODGERS has told the Celtic board to get his breakthrough star Kristoffer Ajer signed up on a new long term deal after a string of impressive performances.

The young defender who got his first full national call up this week for Norway had been on a great run of form for the club and is showing experience beyond his age.

Ajer was signed by Ronny Deila on a pre-contract before the Norweigan boss left Celtic two summer’s ago – when Rodgers came in, Ajer was put straight into developmental.

A loan this time last year to Kilmarnock further enhanced his knowledge of Scottish football and even though the Norweigan has to bide his time this season, when he got his chance, he took it.

Rodgers now wants the bhoy signed up for at least the next four years on improved terms.

The players current deal ends summer 2020.

It would be an excellent move for all if Celtic can get the deal done quickly.
