CeltsAreHere were in attendance at the Taxi To Troon event today, with our man Juddy representing the site.
The Celtic Foundation donated £7,000 to the cause that saw over 3,000 children with special needs go to Troon’s beach for the day. Over 120 vehicles participated in the 75th anniversary of the parade.
The foundation once again Donated to the event, which will aid many Celtic fans in the Glasgow area.
It was a great day to head to the beach, the sun was shining and the temperature rising – it must have been a ‘taps aff’ kind of day in Troon. Hopefully, Juddy didn’t participate!
CeltsAreHere spoke to Tom Boyd, who does a lot of work with the foundation, and thanked the Celtic fans for their continued support of the charity, saying;
“This is why we were founded, away back to feed those that needed some nourishment. We’re bigger now and we’ve expanded and we’re now in more difficult times.
“To come here, and be associated with the Glasgow Taxis for over 20 years, raising nearly £200,000, that’s all come from Celtic fans.
“As big jock says ‘football without fans is nothing’ well, the foundation without fans would never exist. So, I’ve got to thank everybody that donates and helps to keep things like this up and running.”
The Celtic Foundation relies on the fans giving up their time, to either participate in fundraising events or donate their money.
We were on the ground this morning to watch the Taxi for Troon outing set off!
Around 300 children with special needs enjoyed a day at the coast as part of the annual tradition.
