MailSport reported over the weekend Celtic were looking into signing Austria Under-21 international Husein Balic.

The pacey left winger currently plays for St Polten’s in the Bundesliga and is entering the final year of his contract. The report claims Celtic have added the young player to their list of potential targets and could pursue a deal for the midfielder before all is said and done this transfer window.

However, the club has refuted any claims there player has been subject of any interest and even offered up some sarcasm when addressing the rumours.

“Despite the rumours, the SKN St. Pölten remains relaxed. “If it is on the Internet, then, of course, it is true,” a club spokesman told Laola1.

“So far, there has been no official offer for Husein Balic ,” the SKN clarifies. At the sixth of the last season Balic still has a contract until 2020, Abolöse could take the “wolves” so only now for him.”

Celtic are being very active in the market with Neil Lennon looking to refresh the squad after over 11 exits from the club this summer.

The squad was too large in the first place but there was a lot of deadwood and loan signings who have now left the club. Balic’s position is not one Celtic really need to focus on at the minute but could there be a buy/loan back deal for the player much like Shved last season?

  1. He looks good, but a good signing would be to go after there new CH Slavia Prague’s Ivorian player Simon Deli why not go and snatch the player from them…..offer £3 million and take him…
