CELTIC supporters will get to travel in their thousands when the bhoys take on St Johnstone in the Scottish Cup at the beginning of March with the Perth side confirming the club will continue its trial of allowing three stands to be filled with Hoops Fans.

A Saints statement confirmed as cited by The Courier: “The match will see the club continue with the trial stadium arrangements whereby the away supporters will occupy the North, East and Ormond Stands.”

Celtic fans enjoyed a bumper crowd earlier this season at McDermid Park but there was some doubt surrounding whether St Johnstone would allow this for a cup tie. Given it’s a one-off game and the Perthshire club can book a place in the semi-final of the Scottish Cup there might have been more demand for home tickets.

Instead, Celtic will get around 6000 briefs for the cup clash which will no doubt be snapped up by the Hoops faithful.

The game takes place March 1st with a 3 pm kick-off scheduled.

Having that much backing in the stadium will be a terrific boost for the bhoys on the day as they look to win the Scottish Cup for a fourth consecutive time.

  1. So it takes St Jobbie to recognise that filling the stadium with anybodys away fans to make a atmosphere. Do they wish more home fans to kick up a fuss. If they made it to the semi or finale. Would they convince their own fans to go and fill Hampden.
