Celtic have released a late night statement but not one some were expecting.

After the hugely disappointing defeat to Ross County on Sunday afternoon, most fans believed Neil Lennon’s time was up at the club.

However, tonight he still sits in a job and the club have came out firing at the minority of supporters who have left some of our players ‘shaken’ in the aftermath of the defeat.

Celtic claim missiles were thrown at the first team stars on their way from the ground as hundreds of Celtic supporters voiced their displeasure at the current situation.

Some in attendance clearly took the protest way too far and have now allowed the board to focus on these events rather than the matter at hand.

It’s regrettable that some people in our support would reduce themselves to trying to hit first team players and coaches after any defeat.

The relationship between the board and the fans has broke down well before now and it looks likes we’ll have more mud slinging before all is said and done.

Full statement below.

Everyone at the Club is hugely disappointed by this afternoon’s result, one which has ended our phenomenal run of 35 consecutive cup victories.

While we sincerely share the huge disappointment of all Celtic supporters, there can be no excuse for some of the violent scenes at Celtic Park this evening. The Club will be investigating these events fully.

For players and a management team, who have given so much in recent years and have delivered 11 consecutive trophies, to require an escort from Celtic Park while being targeted with missiles, is simply unacceptable.

While we understand that only a small number of people were involved in this behaviour, some of the actions this evening, which have obviously left our own players shaken, cannot be condoned in any way.

  1. Throwning abuse at the squad (even the ones who played today) publicly is not acceptable. Throwing anything at a bus holding them, is just totally shi7e. Have Celtic moved into a war zone? Who are the zombies ?‍♂️ now.
Fuc&ing unacceptable on both counts. Just keep your TIAR anger in your pants, where it belongs. And complain as much as you want during non playing hours. There won’t be many people reporting it though. Youth huh it’s really wasted on the young.

      • The fans are at their wits end hence these scenes at Celtic Park. The contract between the manager and the fans is simple. You win or you foxtrot oscar! Its woe betide any manager who doesn’t understand this. Neil is a Celtic man to his bones so he certainly does.

  2. They need shaken by the fekn throat bunch of cowards …chucked it after the newco white flag gubbing at home ..sack the lot of those fairies and let them get a real job …lazy overpaid clowns like the anaemic board who hired them …sorry to say this once famous club has been allowed to die by our so called custodians…turned us into a sideshow …last out switch off the euro lamps

  3. Statement from the club sums up why some fans are so angry.
Quick to condemn the fans but not a word about replacing Lennon when this disaster today is the latest in a series of car crashes this season-each one worse than the last.
If we cant compete when having all the financial advantages whats ahead of us as Sevco hoover up Champions League money?
The fans are angry and im not surprised at what happened outside the ground today.
