During Thursday’s game, Hearts player Barrie McKay was struck by a bottle when attempting to take a corner kick. Police Scotland have confirmed that a 24-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and have submitted a case to the procurator fiscal and said that “enquires are ongoing”.
Celtic have also taken matters into their own hands and have been in contact with the Edinburgh club.
As quoted by Clyde 1, a spokesperson for Celtic had this to say in relation to the incident;
“Clearly such behaviour has no place at Celtic Park.
“We have already been in contact with Hearts. The club will also investigate the matter fully and we will take all appropriate action.”
The SPFL are waiting on their match delegate’s report before they decide what action they will take.
Luckily, McKay did not seem to be hurt and carried on playing and took the corner. The incident could have been a lot worse and I fully expect Celtic to take serious action against the individual.
Behaviour like this has no place in Celtic Park, or indeed at any football ground.
