It looks like it could be the end of an element of the SFAs ‘Project Brave’ as clubs reconsider their developmental future within the current structure.

The Reserve League which was brought back to help clubs prepare their youngsters for the rigours of a top-flight season has looked to have failed in many peoples eyes.

SunSport is now reporting several clubs are contemplating binning their reserve sides going forward to focus on relationships with lower league teams. Some clubs believe the costs outweigh the benefits and are ready to ditch the reintroduced league.

It’s unclear if Celtic are one of these sides at present, but there is minimal incentive to continue in the current setup.

The club could choose to send more players out on loan to lower league teams in the future in the hope that first team football will be the making of them.

With Celtic having a few young players on the cusp of being first team ready, it could be wise to send them out next term for some experience.
