CLUJ chief Bogdan Mara revealed the ‘Celtic president’ came into the Cluj dressing room at full time and congratulated the players on beating Celtic which is a show of respect.

No word if this was Peter Lawwell or Ian Bankier with no such role existing at Celtic Park.

Celtic were beaten 4-3 on the night by the Romanian club who milked the moment on and off the pitch after getting the better of Neil Lennon’s side.

Mara admitted whoever went into the dressing room to congratulate them was embarrassingly unaware of who Celtic’s Europa League play-off opponents would be. You should never plan to fail but even we knew the potential tie that awaited us if something as disastrous as Tuesday evening happened. Maybe pick up your phone and type it into google before!

Speaking to SunSport, Mara said: “The Celtic president came into our dressing room to congratulate us on our victory.

“But they weren’t thinking about the Europa League – he didn’t even know the name of their opponents.”

We will take on AIK or Sheriff for anyone not in the know. AIK are 2-1 up from the first leg and the second leg will take place Thursday.

So Ian or Pete weren’t banking at all on Celtic being put out of the Champions League this evening. It would appear they live in their own little bubble.

If it was Peter Lawwell, we’re surprised he never offered Dan Petrescu the Celtic job in the showers.

While the defeat was preventable with what we have it should never be forgotten that under Lawwell we have deeply regressed in the past 18 months as a football team.

  1. This has become a terrible site.
No analysis, no real facts of interest – all opinion and lots of useless articles which say very little.
