Celtic’s plans to enter the Scottish Lowland League will have to kick into high gear in the coming weeks.

The Hoops will have representation in the competition next season and according to league Chairperson, George Fraser, the plan is to kick off the new term on July 17 [SLFL Website]. It means we’re just a month out from Celtic entering the competition.

It will have to be all guns blazing at Lennoxtown to get their ducks in a row for the competition.

There are stringent rules surrounding Celtic and their Glasgow rival’s inclusion into the competition.

– Glasgow Clubs to pay £25k each as one season entry fee.

– Minimum 22 players to be submitted before the season starts.

– If a player plays 5 games for first team he can’t play for B team until next window.

– Max age is U-20 with one U-21 outfield and one U-21 goalkeeper.

There will be lots on outgoings this summer and the club must have a management team in place as well as a roster of players in time for the start of the competition.

Given the early start to the league, it could be difficult to make calls on players on the cusp of the first team but could play for the Colts.

Fans haven’t been allowed into watch Celtic for such a long time, we can imagine there will be a decent following for the Colt’s side when the league does get going. Another positive for the clubs in the league who will benefit from gate money if restrictions are eased.

Where will Celtic play their home games? Who will the manager be? These are things that will need to be sorted ASAP.
