Sports reporter Brian Owen has claimed a well placed Brighton source has told him the noise over Brighton making a move for Odsonne Edouard are ‘completely false’.

There has been a lot made of Brighton’s apparent interest in the Celtic striker but Own seems confident it’s not the case.

Writing for The Argus, the reporter enlightened readers with what his ‘well placed source’ had said: “Reports that keep emerging are completely false.”.

It’s no secret to anybody that Edouard would like a move away from the club this summer but there’s yet to be any substantiated offers for the striker.

The Frenchman is in the final year of his contract and could sign a pre-contract with a club in January next year if he wishes. Celtic would obviously rather get a decent fee for the frontman.

We’re likely not going to here the end of the rumours until Eddy has finally moved on. It looks like it will go much later in the window than the club or the striker would want.

Ajer was sold last week to Brentford after letting the club know his intentions to leave. Edouard should get a move, but apparently it won’t be to Brighton.
