BRENDAN RODGERS has told Celtic fans Leigh Griffiths and Marvin Compper didn’t travel to Ireland with the squad on Saturday due to injury.

The Irishman explained he didn’t want to risk either but will assess them in the next 24 hours to see if they’ll make the trip to Armenia.

“Leigh and Marvin were injured so they didn’t travel to Ireland. Hopefully they will come with us but we will see when we go back.” Said the Celtic boss.

Compper has since been left out of aceltic’s squad for the trip to Armenia.

The German’s time at Celtic so far has been blighted by injury and if he can’t hit the ground running this season It could be curtains for the big defender.

    • Brian, agreed on Commper, unless this latest injury is a minor setback in his return from his injury woes,if so good enough player,so needs to be given another chance. As for Griff, has had big knee issues, but Celtic physio team reported that after operation earlier this year that Griff’s long ongoing knee problems had been addressed.Reported to be willing to extend his contract to another 5 years,he will be the striker to fire us to 10.A.R. and beyond.Dembele will move on either this season or next, and i think,as will the Celtic board, after shelling out £9m,Edouarde to tun riot in the hoops, and attract big money offers. So Griffiths defo needs to be kept.H.H

  1. No disrespect but griffiths is decent but he’ll never again be 1st choice under Brendan, when Dembele goes Edouard will be 1st choice and we’ll sign someone else 2. Wee griff will always be fighting for 2nd and 3rd striker.
