Since Celtic were dumped out of the League Cup on Sunday, we let our readers know a gap in the calendar had opened up for the bhoys to play one of their postponed league matches in December.

The quarter-finals of the Betfred League cup will take place midweek between December 15-17. With the date cordoned off for the League Cup, Celtic were not scheduled for an SPFL game that midweek.

Aberdeen were also knocked out of the competition and they so happen to be one of the teams we have a postponed game against. It’s a no brainer for the SPFL to pencil this game in for both clubs during the League Cup midweek fixtures.

However, we sit here on Friday and the SPFL has yet to make a decision on what’s going to happen. Given the game would be less than two weeks away if it goes ahead, time is of the essence.

Since then, the SPFL have made a fixture amendment for Celtic; moving their game against Hibs so they can take part in a short winter training camp. Today their social media feed also amended another December fixture.

So why the silence on this game? If Celtic don’t have this fixture rescheduled then they will go into the new year, three games behind their title rivals.
