Celtic handed Adam Montgomery a long-term deal after he looked to complete the step to Celtic’s senior squad.

The defender played an important part in Ange Postecoglou’s side throughout the start of the season but left fans with mixed opinions after he fell away from the first team pictures

After he’d been replaced with Greg Taylor returning from injury, Adam was sent to Aberdeen on loan, but after injury saw him sidelined for the majority of his spell in the North East he failed to make an impact.

The Celtic youngster has now got another chance to impress, joining St Johnstone on loan. Surprisingly, the loan deal will only last until January.

There is no clause to buy the player, meaning if he impresses he can push to regain his place in the squad for the second half of the season. Although, it’s strange how the loan only lasts until January, suggesting St Johnstone is cautious about taking the 19-year-old on loan.

Celtic left back situation?

With a left-back leaving the squad, it’s likely he’ll need to be replaced, especially with Liam Scales also departing.

Bernabei is close to completing a move to Celtic, with a 5-year deal lined u for the Argentinian left-back. He’s been in Glasgow since Thursday, so an announcement must be imminent.
