Celtic have lost a backroom staff member this week with the news European scout, Mike Trusson has left the club to take up a coaching post alongside Tony Pulis at Sheffield Wednesday.

Trusson was announced by the official Sheffield Wednesday site on Friday and takes up his post immediately.

Mike takes up the assistant managers post at the English club and admitted he couldn’t turn the opportunity down when Tony came calling.

“I was working as a European scout for Celtic and I was enjoying that but when you get this opportunity at such a great, historical club like Sheffield Wednesday, it was a no-brainer.

“The one thing that strikes me is there’s a lot of quality in the squad. Our challenge is to bring that quality out, make the players better and start getting results.”

Celtic have an extensive scouting network and are likely to replace Mike in the near future. It should be down to Nicky Hammond and Garry Penrice on who comes in to replace Mike.

The scouting never stops at Celtic and while the pandemic presents challenges to the sort of data and information we like to compile, it’s important we have the right talent spotters in place to help push the team forward.

We wish Mike all the best at Sheffield.
