Celtic will face off against Hearts in the last 16 of the Premier Sports Cup next month.

The Hoops have been handed a tie at Parkhead against the Jambos, who just missed out on a seeded place in the competition on goals scored.

Of course, the two sides are preparing to face off against one another next weekend in the League season opener. However, now both managers will have a second fixture against each other to worry about.

Hearts were recently bounced back at the first attempt from the Championship to the Premiership this season.

That didn’t stop Celtic facing them, though, playing against Robbie Neilson’s side in the Scottish Cup final for the 2019/20 trophy last December.

The last time the two teams faced in this competition came back in Brendan Rodgers final season as the manager of the club. The semi-final fixture was famously played at Murrayfield Stadium, and the Hoops came out 3-0 winners in the end.

The tie will be played on the weekend of the 14th/15th of August, as Celtic looked to try and win the trophy back after a disappointing attempt which saw the club go out at this very same round against Ross County last season.
