LIAM SHAW has left Celtic to Join Motherwell on loan, the clubs have confirmed. His loan will expire at the end of this season.

Motherwell currently occupies 4th position under Graham Alexander and is pushing to compete in Europe next season.

Liam joined the hoops last summer after agreeing a pre-contract with the club while Neil Lennon was still the manager.

It is fair to say he hasn’t got the game time to prove himself at Celtic yet, maybe this loan could help him become accustomed to the league and push for a starting role when he returns, just like Ajer’s spell at Kilmarnock.

The 20-year-old has played twice this season, one of these was a start in Celtic’s final Europa League game where the bhoys hosted Real Betis.

Celtic have a midfield full of quality with additions already in the door this window and more rumoured to be on their way. Still a young player, Shaw can use this loan to push these players and put his name forward for a starting place.
